The questions we get asked about IoT & Edge

The device takes the reading on the site. The gateway gets that reading off the site and into your network, which is the part that fails most often. The server stores it, watches it and raises the alarm. You usually need all three before the data is worth anything.

It is the normal case rather than the exception. Gateways buffer readings and retry, and we choose the connectivity around the site you actually have rather than the one a datasheet assumes. Poor signal changes the design, it does not stop it.

Usually. If the existing kit speaks a documented protocol we read from it rather than replacing it. Replacing hardware is the expensive option and we would rather it was your last one.

That gets designed in from the start, because retrofitting it is painful. Provisioning, updates and monitoring are built so that adding the fiftieth unit is routine rather than a project of its own.

Whichever suits you. We support them ourselves, or we hand over with the documentation and training for your own people to do it. What we will not do is leave equipment on your site that nobody knows how to update.

Through the same integration work as any other project. Readings are only useful once they reach the ERP, the maintenance schedule or the person on shift, so that is part of the job rather than an extra.
