What we do here.
The gateway is where most IoT projects actually fail. Devices and business systems rarely speak the same language, and site connections drop, so anything pushing straight from a device loses data quietly and nobody notices for weeks.
A gateway translates between protocols, buffers readings while the link is down and sends them when it returns. That is unglamorous and it is the difference between a dataset you can trust and one with holes in it.
Where your existing equipment speaks a documented protocol we read from it rather than replacing it, because replacing hardware is the expensive option. Gateways are built to be updated and monitored remotely, since sending somebody to a site to reboot something costs more than the hardware.
