What we do here.

AI coding tools let people ship working applications without being able to read what they shipped. The application runs, which is the problem, because nothing tells you about the credentials in the source, the input nobody validates or the query that will fall over at a thousand rows.

We go through it the way we would any inherited codebase. What is exposed, what is unvalidated, what breaks under load and what no developer could safely change. You get that list before any work starts.

Rewriting everything is usually unnecessary. Most of it is salvageable once the dangerous parts are fixed and some structure is put back, and the aim is a codebase a developer can work on with tests that tell you when something broke.
