Adam Keith Milton-Barker, Founder/Managing Director at CogniTech Systems

Adam is founder and Managing Director of CogniTech Systems, with over 20 years' experience architecting and engineering advanced hybrid systems for corporations and SMEs.

He specialises in converging artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and software engineering into production platforms, with a particular focus on future proof systems that adapt as requirements, hardware, and technology change around them.

He designs, trains, and deploys machine learning systems across cloud and edge, taking projects from dataset preparation and model architecture through to inference running in production, whether served at scale in the cloud or on device at low latency where connectivity cannot be assumed. His computer vision work covers medical imaging classification on histology and haematology datasets, real time facial recognition and depth sensing, and continuous video analysis in live environments, developed to research standards and published openly.

He architects and operates the platforms that carry these systems, spanning cloud infrastructure, API design, data pipelines, storage, and multi tenant environments with per user permission models over long lived customer data. His delivery practice is built on CI/CD pipelines, clear separation between development, staging, and production, and Scrum led iteration, with the operational visibility required to run platforms that remain accountable once deployed.

History

Adam has led and executed artificial intelligence projects from research through to production deployment, working across medical imaging, intelligent monitoring, and business automation. His approach applies research standards to commercial work, validating model performance against real operational data rather than curated benchmarks, and designing for degradation so systems behave predictably when inputs are poor, conditions vary, or hardware fails.

His work output has been recognised internationally by Intel, including the Intel DevMesh AI Spotlight Award as one of four projects selected worldwide and the first from Europe, a further Intel DevMesh Project Spotlight, coverage by Intel AI News, presentation at the International Conference on Machine Learning, and a Tech For Good documentary feature produced for Intel Innovation. He publishes openly and contributes to open source artificial intelligence research in healthcare.

He designs smart home, building, and industrial monitoring architectures where sensor networks, real-time processing, and physical actuation must operate without supervision, and has extensive experience migrating legacy business systems onto modern automated platforms while maintaining service continuity. Earlier in his career he built administration platforms, e-commerce, and web based automation for commercial clients, establishing the platform foundations his current work is built on.

Adam holds recognised expert status across the industry as an Intel Software Innovator, Intel oneAPI Innovator, NVIDIA Jetson AI Ambassador, and Edge Impulse Expert. He represents these programmes internationally as a speaker, demonstrator, and mentor, has delivered talks remotely to universities and developer conferences across Europe, India, and Australia including TEDx, and served as a community teaching assistant on two of MIT's online computer science courses. While operating at director level, he remains deliberately hands-on, bridging architectural decision-making with implementation and long-term operational ownership.
